Description of the Role:
The Senior Patent Paralegal will provide efficient support on day-to-day tasks related to patent prosecution and portfolio management. The responsibilities include management of patent databases and case files, tracking of case status, correspondence with attorneys and inventors, accounting tasks and document preparation. The responsibilities will also include budget management support and management of an inventor award program. The position can be remote.
Responsibilities include:
Maintain a patent database and ensure completeness and accuracy
Manage prosecution tools and workflows (particularly with IPfolio) and docket & generate reports as needed
Oversee and administer the high-touch quarterly inventor awards program
Maintain and track patent awards within prosecution tools and workflows (e.g. IPfolio) and generating reports as needed
Work with law firms to ensure that all case matter is up-to-date, accurate, and properly stored
Process invoices in cost tracking tools to maintain budget & expense tracking, using SimpleLegal
Track important due dates and deadlines
Correspond with law firms, engineers and other contacts worldwide
Secure signatures and required documents/forms as needed
Scheduling of meetings and occasional events, including Patent Review Board meetings, patent application reviews, meetings with law firms, and inventor celebration lunches and dinners
Assist in managing open-source software requests, and prepare attributions documentation.
Outreach and education to engineers and developers
Other administrative tasks as needed
Desired qualification and experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in an in-house legal department or law firm as a patent paralegal
Understanding of US & Foreign patent prosecution in all phases, and the ability to apply such knowledge of and skills to complete a wide range of tasks
Experience with IPfolio IP management system, SimpleLegal e-billing system, Mac, Microsoft Office, and other technology and office tools
ABA-approved Paralegal certificate, Bachelor’s degree or NALA Certified Paralegal, or job experience in lieu thereof
Experience working with various, cross-functional, internal and external groups
Results-driven, innovative thinker with the ability to organize & prioritize numerous tasks under resource constraints
Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage documents from multiple sources, multi-task, and prioritize
Experience working with inventors globally is a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must work well independently, be self-motivated - follow-up and follow-through skills essential
Ability to remain focused and flexible to address changes in work requirements
Strong work ethic and pride in work product
Can do attitude with a sense of humor
Proficient in Microsoft Office and G-suite applications
This position can be based anywhere in the United States; regular Pacific Time Zone hours will be required.

The annual base salary range is: $104,000-$156,000. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
